What is a Business Valuation?

A business valuation is a determination of the worth, or fair market value, of a business. A valuation is different from an appraisal, which is the determination of the worth of tangible personal property and/or real property.
A valuation is based on internal and external factors such as a business ownership, financial position, results of current and past operations, forecasts of future operations, competition, the industry in which the company operates and economic conditions.
